Goodbye, Lolly!

GOODBYE, LOLLY!!!
Have a nice trip to Poland!
We'll miss you, and we'll never forget you!!!!

Teaching Lolly about the Minoan civilization

The children talked to me about the Minoan godess of snakes, and the disk of Faestos.
We also made a puzzle with a picture of dolphins, an amazing wallpainting from the queen's appartments at the palace of Knossos.

Goodbye, Lolly! We'll cherish our friendship in our hearts till we meet again someday...

Celebrations for the Greek Revolution of the 25th March 1821

Some shots from the rehearsals. Here we are rehearsing our songs.

The children also took me on stage for rehearsal. It was great fun!
And the big day of the celebration came.
There was also "Karagiozis", greek shadow theatre!

Lolly at the old town of Rethymno

We went to the folklore museum of Rethymno,

to a traditional workshop of handmade pastry

and to the Municipal Stadium of Rethymno.

Coming soon on screen! ...

The children wanted to make an animation where they and me , Lolly the cat, would be the main characters. So first we made up the story...
Then we sketched the story into comic strips...

We discussed our strips and ended up into a common one...
Then we prepared the heros and the background...

And finally we made the... shooting!
But the outcome of our effort will be a surprise for you, to watch it in the wikispaces soon!

Yeia sas, fili! Bye, friends!!

At the care center for old people

The old ladies showed me how to make a cake with cretan incrediences.
I listened to traditional cretan music with "lira" and "lagouto".
Here I am with the dancing group of the folclore workshop of Rethymno.
We danced "Pentozalis", a traditional cretan dance.
Here we get informed about the cretan music.
We made biscuits with oliveoil and sesame seeds.
We learned so many things about the traditional musical instruments of Crete.
I enjoyed myself with the cretan music.
"Kastrinos" is a dance for brave men.
I also learned to dance "Syrto"
And I saw traditional costumes.

Nautical Museum of Chania

This time we visited Chania...
I learned so many things about the minoan ship.
How unconvenient these casks must have been...
I even tried to "drive" a submarine!
What a perfect museum! I wish I come back one day...

At the "Seaworld" in Heraklion

The children took me to an amazing aquarium to discover the world under the sea water!
We saw small fish...
...and big ones!
We picked up so many information about life under water.
We have so wonderful memories from this excursion...
I'll never forget the submarines, the octopuses, the sea turtles and all the things we saw there!
